Camille Rose Naturals “Curl Love Moisture Milk” vs. Curl Junkie “Curl Assurance Smoothing Lotion”

Last week I posted a pic on Instagram with the teaser “Which leave-in conditioner will come out on top?” that seriously had me anxious to find out the results.

CN-VS-CJ

Yes, I posted a pic of a used product. Don’t judge me.

I honestly never considered comparing these two because I do and will forever heart them both for different reasons. My love for Curl Junkie Curl Assurance Smoothing Lotion has stemmed from way back, and my new love for Camille Rose Naturals Curl Love Moisture Milk is a bond that no one can break. It was such a tough call. Over the past few days I’ve been analyzing a few factors that have helped me confirm why both products are awesome for different reasons. Read on and check out my comparisons!

Just to clarify- the intention of this mini challenge was to see which product would perform better on a wash and go style. That’s it. This is the only style that I’ve tested these products with, for comparative purposes. 😉

Look
Both Camille Rose and Curl Junkie moisturize my situation like no other. (Thus far) My coils are left plump, juicy, and defined. I will say, however, that the Curl Junkie Smoothing Lotion does promote shrinkage a little more than the Moisture Milk by Camille Rose Naturals.

Feel
For the ease of use and detangling, Curl Junkie has it on lock. My curls are super obedient from the moment this lotion is applied and my detangling/styling time is easily cut in half. The Moisture milk wasn’t number one in terms of application because it is a little thicker, but once applied and worked in, its as smooth as butter- almost as smooth as its competitor.

Use

Ultimately, it comes down to being a multi use product and playing well with others- a department Camille Rose dominates. The high glycerin content in the Curl Junkie plumps my curls and keeps them moisturized- but it may work against me in the cooler weather when the air is drier. When I paired the CJ with my usual styler, I liked the results- but they just didn’t compare to those of the CN with styler.

Another point to consider, is the price points for both products, and the availability for purchase. Curl Junkie runs $20 for 12 oz and is only available online (at the time of this post) while Camille Rose retails for $15 for an 8 oz bottle and can be purchased in stores.

The truth

There is no loser here, both products make my curls sing. I would hands down choose the Curl Junkie Smoothing lotion if I needed something for a quick wash and go and if I were going somewhere that required nothing more than an awesome leave in and a smile. If I wanted to spend more time on my hair, however, in terms of styling and detangling- and wanted to layer a styler on top- Camille Rose Moisture Milk would be my choice.
