Best Tacos in Tampa? Los Chapos Tacos in Ybor City

I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on the content that I want to bring you, and I’m excited to get back into sharing local gems and adventures with you. Hopefully the first of many posts like this one, I can’t wait to bring you along as we do more exploring! Today we’re stopping by one of the BEST taco spots in Ybor City, in Tampa –Los Chapos Tacos.

First of all, Ybor City is the perfect spot for this restaurant, considering all of the culture and community that this side of Tampa is known for. It’s actually a free standing building away from the busy strip which is great because you can pull up to the building and park just a few inches from where you will be sitting!

My husband and I were excited to try this as a day date spot but couldn’t wait to try them out so we went on a whim with the kids one Saturday afternoon for lunch. We are so happy that we brought them because the atmosphere is super family friendly! Outside on the lawn, they have corn hole, a giant connect 4 game, and gorgeous areas for you to sit and chill.

The food was delivered right to our table within 10 to 15 minutes (if that) and we dove right in! My son ordered a mushroom quesadilla and my daughter had mushroom street tacos (soooo good!!!). I ordered a chicken street taco, a steak quesadilla and a mushroom street taco, while my husband tried a steak burrito. The dishes are a la carte so they don’t come with sides but the littles were satisfied with their portions. My husband and I were bummed that we didn’t order more but I can’t say it wasn’t enough– it was just really, really good!

We have been following a meatless diet for a few months but I was in rare form after watching their intro videos on Instagram! Everything that we tried was DELICIOUS. We were kicking ourselves for going on a Saturday, because they are closed on Sundays and we knew we needed more!

As I mentioned, everything that I tried was awesome, but I can’t stop thinking about this mushroom street tacos. Now that I’m “back on track” I’ll be sticking to the mushroom entrees and I cannot wait to try the mushroom burrito! If you’re plant based, please do yourself a favor and check out the mushroom dishes! We didn’t cater anything to a vegan diet like we usually do, so just keep in mind that most of the items we ordered had dairy as well. I’m sure you can customize your order, the staff was super helpful and sweet!

While you’re here, don’t forget to check out the beautifully decorated hallways that add to the culture and ambiance of Los Chapos. I cringe at promoting a bathroom for photos but it was so cute that I couldn’t help myself! I know this IG worthy spot will bring in lots of tourists for photos but I hope that you really take a moment to enjoy the history and culture of this place. It’s beautiful!

Next time you’re in Tampa, visit Los Chapos Tacos and let me know what you ordered!
